Ageo Down Under Basketball (ADU) unites both Australian and Japanese Basketball communities through innovative basketball experiences. Participants travel to Queensland, Australia and home stay with families in local basketball communities. There they enjoy a variety of tailored activities including pro-coached basketball clinics, tournaments, visiting schools and sightseeing.
Participants gain experiences never to be forgotten. Not only do they improve their basketball skills but also through differing cultural experiences they develop a deeper understanding of foreign life and a new perspective on their own lifestyle. ADU is proud to be the only known organisation in Japan and Australia to offer such a unique opportunity.
In todayfs multicultural environment it is important for the youth to experience differing cultures. This creates a wonderful opportunity for participants to explore lifestyles and language while forging friendships with like-minded people.
Tours are based in South East Queensland and involve games, sightseeing and activities stretching from the Gold Coast through to the Sunshine Coast.
Australia is one of the powerhouses of World basketball, currently ranked by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) as the overall second best basketball nation in the World. The Australian Opals (National Womens team) are the reigning World Champions and Olympic silver medalists. The Australian Boomers (National Mens team) are currently ranked #9 in the official rankings and recently qualified for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
